Youth Reconciliation Initiative

Canadian Roots Exchange launched the Indigenous Reconciliation Leadership Initiative in the fall of 2012.  These were teams comprised of Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth that helped lead reconciliation activities in their regions. The pilot project in 2012-13 involved teams of youth from different regions of Canada.  During the past year, our Youth Reconciliation Leadership teams organized reconciliation and education activities in their region.  This included workshops in high schools, universities, elementary schools and youth groups along with organizing youth gatherings, documentary screenings and cultural activities.  CRE will be expanding the Indigenous Youth Reconciliation Initiative for the 2013-2014 year.  A call out for leaders will be announced in mid-June 2013 with a project start day of late August 2013.  Please visit our website to get further updates about this project.
