Exchanges

Exchanges are the backbone of our programming. Since 2009, CRE has collaborated with dozens of host communities to build face-to-face relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth. Some exchanges have become annual traditions, and others are organized upon the request of passionate local youth.

Consent

At CRE, we never go into any community unless we've been invited by community members.

Intergenerational

Youth don't exist in a vacuum! Our exchanges link youth with Elders, adults, and children in host communities.

Sharing

CRE exchanges are reciprocal. Participants are asked to share their own culture with the exchange community.

Exchanges through the Ages

How do I join?

CRE runs 4-6 exchanges every year. Application forms are made available on Facebook and online. After applying, you'll be contacted directly with the status of your application. If needed, we'll do our best to support you in securing the funds required to participate on an exchange, either by providing subsidies or helping you organize your own fundraisers. Diversity and inclusion are some of our key tenets - if there are obstacles preventing you from participating in an exchange (or any CRE program), please let us know and we'll tackle them together.
