The 5-year long Canadian Truth and Reconciliation Commission on Residential Schools came to an end in June 2015. Many people gathered in Ottawa to mark the ceremonial close of the TRC. Here are some of the events that CRE participated in:
Walk for Reconciliation Banner Making Party

Supporters joined Canadian Roots Exchange for an evening of banner-making and discussion as we prepared for the “Walk for Reconciliation” which took place on Algonquin Territory in Ottawa on Sunday, May 31st, 2015.
CRE workshop @Time for Reconciliation KAIROS Gathering

CRE offered a workshop on dispelling stereotypes and building bridges between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth at the KAIROS Inter-generational Gathering.

CRE supporters participated in the “Walk for Reconciliation” in solidarity with residential school survivors and to demonstrate our commitment to continue building bridges between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
Mass Blanket Exercise on Parliament Hill

Hosted by the youth-led initiative, Assembly of Seven Generations (A7G ), the first ever Blanket Exercise on Parliament Hill aimed to help educate and reconcile the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
