Community Advisory Circle

The purpose of the Community Advisory Circle (CAC) is to strengthen Canadian Roots Exchange’s programs and services by ensuring that they are community-informed and community-led. The CAC serves in an advisory capacity, making recommendations on matters that impact the experiences of communities and youth. This advice is crucial for CRE’s Board of Directors as they set the goals and direction of the organization.  As an advisory body, the CAC will never supersede decisions made by the Board but will consult with them to provide input.

Open to BIPOC youth aged 18-29 with spaces reserved for First Nations, Metis, Inuit, and mono-racial Black youth

Members of the CAC are responsible for

  • Provide advice to CRE & the Board;
  • Support the development of CRE’s strategic plans;
  • Review CRE’s annual plans;
  • Provide feedback to CRE directors & the Board on program charters, including by highlighting gaps or necessary enhancements, ensuring programs are in line with Indigenous knowledge and practices, and ensuring programs are relevant to the communities they are serving;
  • Work collaboratively and positively to support CRE growth & program delivery;
  • Respect other CAC members’ perspectives and hold space for all voices at the table;
  • Represent voices from community members who do not sit as part of the circle;
  • Work thoughtfully and purposefully toward building consensus; and
  • Attend all scheduled meetings wherever possible.

Join our Community Advisory Circle and help guide the future of CRE programming!
