To mark The National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, we’re breaking down the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ National Action Plan, which came out last summer.

- Released June 3, 2021, the National Action Plan (NAP) is part of the Government of Canada’s response to the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
- The NAP outlines how governments, organizations, institutions, and communities across the country are going to to address violence against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people.
- So while the NAP contains lots of different plans for addressing this violence, we are focusing on the federal government’s contribution to the plan, which is the Federal Pathway To Address Missing And Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls And 2SLGBTQQIA+ People.
- The Federal Pathway’s (FP) goal is to “end violence against Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people by recognizing the complexity and interrelated nature of the causes of violence against Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people” (FP, p. 14).
