Indigenous Futurism Panel with CREation Grantee Alumni

June 22, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm EDT

Join us as we talk to panelists about their imagined futures, ones that are shaped by reworking technology, recognizing the strength of Native cultural practices and beliefs, and showcasing Indigenous perspectives through various artistic forms. What would the world look and feel like if Indigenous ways of knowing and being were interwoven within school curriculums, political structures, and mainstream pop culture? What would Turtle Island look like if it had never been colonized? How would Indigenous folk survive a climate apocalypse? These are questions that bring forth the artistic movement of Indigenous futurism. This genre helps us rewrite and reimagine what Indigenous people lived like in the past, and therefore, we are better able to dream up alternatives of what the future may look like.
