Benny Michaud (she/he/they) is a proud taasta-iiyinew (two-spirit) Michif person. Originally from St. Boniface, Manitoba she has been living in Algonquin Territory (Ottawa) for the past 12 years. Over the course of her career, she has worked to support the needs of Indigenous youth in both the mental health and education sectors. She is an advocate for the inclusion of Two-Spirit people in ceremonies in ways that honour their unique gifts. She is also an educator within the Metis community of the roles Two-Spirit people held historically and works to create space for Two-Spirit voices in social, political, and ceremonial spaces today.
