Seeds in Motion: Okahseró:ta – Green Corn teachings with Ahonwa’kerà:ne

About Ahonwa’kerà:ne (he/him)
Ahonwa’kerà:ne is turtle clan of the Kanien’kehá:ka nation from Kahnawá:ke and he is 29 years old. He started learning the language and culture at a young age and grew up attending ceremonies in the longhouse. He is very fortunate to have many people in his life who passed on their knowledge of ceremonies, songs, stories, and lessons important to the culture.
He is a helper in the longhouse who helps with the tobacco burnings and contributes with speaking roles when asked. He was a Language and Culture teacher at the Kahnawake Survival School and currently works at the Kahnawake Environment Office.
