UNDRIP Action Plan – Sharing Circle #4
September 20 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm EDT
When it comes to creating an action plan to achieve the objectives of UNDRIP, it is crucial to create space for Indigenous youth to share their perspectives and priorities.
Over the next few months, CRE will be hosting five virtual sharing circles, an in-person forum in Iqaluit, Nunavut in partnership with Ivviulutit, and a virtual policy hackathon designed to ensure just that.
- The only requirement is that folks identify as Indigenous (First Nation, Metis, and/or Inuit) and are between the ages of 18 and 29.
- Participants do not need to have a background or knowledge related to UNDRIP. However, to help you feel prepared for the engagements we have put together a growing resource list that you can find here!
Sharing circles creates a safe space for participants to share their perspectives and will allow participants to speak freely about their experiences. The structure of these sessions will ensure that others are listening, allowing for participants to take the lead in developing the direction of the circle, thus giving a sense of empowerment and trust within the circle.
Most importantly, this approach emphasizes story-telling, a practice that is so highly valued amongst Indigenous cultures.
More details will be shared with participants one week before the circle.
Each youth participant will receive an honorarium of $150.00 for their participation in the engagements.
Deadline to apply
As spots are limited, please sign up at your earliest convenience, but no less than 1 week before the circle you wish to attend.
Please note that if the circle you select is full, you will be added to a waitlist or offered a spot at another circle that has remaining spaces.
