Dorian Jensen is the Executive Coordinator for CRE. He is a Two-Spirit Métis person originally from Winnipeg, a member of the Manitoba Métis Federation’s Two-Spirit Michif Local, and since 2013 a resident of Ottawa, on unceded Algonquin Anishinaabe territory. He is a proud member of the Delorme and Courchêne/Courchesne families through his maternal grandmother, with Ukrainian, Danish, and English ancestry through his other relations.
As a disabled Two-Spirit person, Dorian has always attempted to ground his work firmly in an intersectional approach. He has been a consultant for the Canadian Universities Queer Services Conference and other organizations and has worked as an administrative coordinator for MAX Ottawa and for the Ottawa Aboriginal Coalition. He volunteers with the above-mentioned 2S Michif Local and with the Métis Nation of Ontario’s Two-Spirit Working Group and has appeared as a panellist to discuss Two-Spirit Métis experiences. Above all, he cares about building community and creating ties between people, in both his work and personal life.
Outside of the nonprofit and community-organizing spheres, Dorian sings both professionally and as a hobby, reads voraciously, listens to an unseemly amount of music, and plays a lot of tabletop RPGs. He loves textile art, discovering new musicians, and the colour burgundy. While he has no pets, he lives vicariously through his sister’s two perfect cats.
