Farah Talaat is an Egyptian poet, media host, event planner, womanist, and youth/community worker. She immigrated to Canada approximately ten years ago and successfully accomplished her goal of graduating from the University of Toronto’s Equity Studies, Indigenous Studies and Sociology programs. Farah embodies liberatory, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive practices in her role as a youth leader at Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre. As a Youth Wellness Engagement Navigator, she facilitates a myriad of programs & workshops that encompass wholistic youth wellness. She is also one of the dynamic hosts of the We Are Strong Podcast as well as a member of the City of Toronto’s Alternatives to Policing Accountability Table. She embraces her identity as an African woman in her role as one of the co-founders of WIISININ and can attribute much of her success to the two years she spent as a member of the tkaronto Youth Reconciliation Initiative.
