Aaniin! Boozhoo! Giimiibzo Chi’Nodinkwe – Aapti Bebom N’gigikwe Hillory Tenute ndishnikaaz, Neyaashiinigmiing ndo njibaa, Ottawa ndo daa, N’gigik dodem. My name is Hillory Tenute and I am an Anishinaabekwe with Settler-Italian Irish descent from the Chippewas of Nawash First Nation located on Neyaashiinigmiing Unceded Territory. I presently reside on Algonquin Unceded Territory in Ottawa, a Territory that has never been surrendered. I am a Decolonizer, Grassroots Mobilizer, Policy & Research Nerd.
Alongside working for a number of Government departments and a few years at the Assembly of First Nations as Sr. Policy Analyst, I have also been an Evaluator for the last 9 years. I specialize in delivering culturally relevant Evaluations for Indigenous organizations and communities that are grounded by Indigenous realities, epistemologies and decolonized methodologies. I believe that any type of research, engagement, evaluation, and policy that is about Indigenous folks needs to be led by Indigenous voices.
Things I love include: dismantling colonial systems of oppression, attending ceremony, re-learning my language, new beadwork, puns, puppies, pizza and a solid high five. #landback
