I’m called Northern Thunderbird, but generally go by Lance Morrison for tax purposes. I’m the child of Red Butterfly Woman who is my mother and guiding light. I also come from a proud line of nēhiyaw (Plains Cree), Métis, and secwépemc ancestors. I’m a multi-genre writer, student, activist, dog lover, researcher, and bad joke teller, raised in Sǫ̀mbak’è (Yellowknife) though I now live in Tkoronto (Toronto). I am a fourth year student at York University, completing a Specialized Major in Indigenous Studies, an (unofficial) second major in Human Rights & Equity Studies, and a concurrent Certificate in Anti-racist Research & Practice through the Department of Equity Studies. My research interests lie specifically in cultural revitalization and language reclamation for Indigenous people, and I’m very excited to see what the Youth dream, create, and evolve through their research projects!
