Poetry as Decolonization Workshop

Date: December 5th 2022 from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm EST

Workshop description: Using poetry as a form of decolonization is rooted in the oral history of Inuit. Many of our stories, histories, and sciences are portrayed through ancient songs passed down from generation. By combining artistry with poetic devices, we are able to share emotion, knowledge, and ourselves with the world around us, which are vital components of navigating neo-colonial societies. The workshop will consist of an introduction, some poetry tips and thoughts, before a session focused on writing before opening the space for people to share their words if they want.

Care packages will be sent to participants!

Thank you for your interest! This workshop has received the maximum amount of registrations. For further information, please contact Shawna@canadianroots.ca
